At the YMCA of Martha's Vineyard we have a social responsibility to offer education class to our community. Together we can make our community a safer place for everyone to live.


American Red Cross CPR/AED/ First Aid Course

Red Cross Blended Learning CPR/First Aid/AED for Adult, child and infant. Advance registration and online pre-course work is required. Participants will complete a 3 hour online course before the class date. The in person class will be a skill evaluation on the information and skills you learned in the online course.

American Red Cross Lifeguard

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over. This course includes training in First Aid, AED and CPR for a professional rescuer.

Minimum age of 15 (must be 16 to work in the State of Massachusetts). Classes are online through the Red Cross Blended Learning. You must be able to swim 300 yards, tread water for 2-minutes, without the use of your hands, and swim to the bottom of the pool to retrieve a 10lbs brick. You will be given more information and a digital manual when you sign up for the class.
