Never has our Y mission felt more important – while so much in our world feels strange and new, we are STRONGER TOGETHER. Please review the information below, created with guidance from the CDC and local health agencies, on what to expect upon your first visit back.
Before your first visit, please be sure to review our new policies, sign our updated Member Waiver and Member Code of Conduct, and make reservations for cardio machines, weight equipment, group exercise and pool time in advance. The prompt will ask you for your barcode which is the numbers on the back of your YMCA of Martha's Vineyard keytag and your last name.
* Don't know your barcode? Simply call the Front Desk or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will provide it for you.
To ensure the safety of our staff, members, and community, visitors will be required to partake in a brief health screening by a Y employee and may be refused admittance if displaying symptoms. We are taking safety seriously. If you’re not feeling well, we ask that you stay home and take advantage of our virtual options.
All members will be required to practice social distancing while inside our Y. In some cases, the availability of equipment will be limited to ensure you’re able to maintain the recommended 6 feet of separation. We’ve placed plexi-glass barriers throughout the wellness floor, though masks will be required as you move through the facility and during your workout. Signage has been strategically placed to assist you in traffic direction & maintaining safe distances.
In order to comply with building occupancy limits set by the CDC, we may restrict access to certain areas at peak times. We ask that if you plan to use the Wellness Floor, Aquatic Center, or attend a group class, you reserve a spot online. More info on this to come – but rest assured that we’ve made every effort to find the most user-friendly software for just this purpose. Not great at planning ahead? You’ll always be able to call the front desk during our business hours and our team can assist you in making a reservation.
We want to keep our doors open to as many members as possible. Doing so means taking safety seriously. Please not that any member who fails to comply with our updated health and safety protocols may me asked to leave the facility.
Advance reservations are required by booking online or by calling the Y prior to your visit.
Members must check in with the front desk to confirm their reserved spots. Walk in reservations may not always be accommodated due to space limitations.
Upon entering the Health & Wellness area check with a staff member to be directed to your designated cardio pod.
Group Exercise classes will take place outside under the pavilion. Reserved spaces will be designated with participants placed 10 feet apart so they can not wear a mask if they prefer. Masks MUST remain on until class begins.
In the event on inclement weather, classes will be held only on Zoom, not under the pavilion. All live, in person classes at the Y will be streamed on Zoom. Zoom participants will only see the instructor, not other members of the class, in order to ensure privacy. There will also be classes held on Zoom only that all members will have access to. Thank you in advance for your patience as we work out this new system in real time.
Require members wash their hands in the newly installed foot pedal sink upstairs before and after using any equipment.
Y staff will be regularly disinfecting all equipment but members are required to wipe down equipment before and after use. Wipes will be made available at each cardio pod and through the weight area.
We encourage members to come dressed to work out and swimmers arrive in their bathing suits. Showers will not be available unless showering to enter the pool but not upon exiting. Bring a robe to ensure comfort when exiting the pool area and leaving the building.
Locker availability will be limited and we discourage use of the locker room except when needing to use the restroom.
We will be offering a Virtual Membership as of September 9th for those who would prefer to continue their membership online. This will provide virtual members with unrestricted access to all live stream classes at the Y as well as classes only offered on Zoom. You will have access to 60+ classes per week, restricted to Y members only. Simply check in virtually online through our website and you will be directed to specialized links to our Zoom classes.
Y WITHOUT WALLS, our Virtual Y Platform, has truly become a community over the last 6 months. We want to ensure this continues for those members who may not be ready yet to come back to the physical Y space. If you wish to switch your membership type to VIRTUAL please email Lindsay, Membership Coordinator: email@example.com
