TEEN CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION:
Fridays 2pm-11pm
Saturdays 4pm-11pm
Sundays 4pm-8pm

On March 12, the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard opened the Island’s first teen center in 20 years. As one of the local newspapers wrote, “After more than a decade of talk and promises…it was ultimately the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard that came through in the clutch. They succeeded where others failed for one simple reason: They did not give up.”

The center has had startling success – its two floors, carefully supervised by Y staff and volunteers – rocks four nights a week, often with as many as 60 teens playing games, watching TV, or hanging out with friends.

The teen center is the outgrowth of the Y’s efforts to fill gaps in services on the island of Martha’s Vineyard – either by providing a place to have fun, a spot to feel safe, or a program to help deal with the serious problems the Island’s people face. Now, the Y is in the process of raising $10 to $14 million to build a community center for the Vineyard’s diverse population – from teenagers to single parents, the growing senior citizen group, summer visitors and every other man, woman and child who lives or visits here. It’s an ambitious, exciting plan that has caught the imaginations and support of hundreds of both on and off-Islanders.

We would hope you would join us by reading this website and donating either online or by contacting the Y. Remember – we will not give up – but we need your help to keep going.

Why a Y?: "I have wonderful nostalgic memories of the Y in my growing up years. It’s where coming of age was easier and safer. I am thrilled that our community will be graced with such a gift."
