The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard is a charitable organization whose community impact would not be possible without our generous donors and volunteers. We would like to give a special thanks to our invaluable volunteers and donors.

As a new YMCA, we have demonstrated success in our first two years of operations by successfully maintaining a balanced budget. With the facility open, our goal now focuses on maintaining sustainable operations by meeting our annual fundraising needs and retiring our capital debt. Our volunteer-led annual fundraising efforts include support from staff, board and the community.   Take a look at our Annual Report to see how we are making a difference in our community and how you can help.  YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard Annual Report

Statement of Need

Why do we have an annual “Island Impact” campaign? The Island Impact campaign is an integral part of the Y mission.   Contributed support is one of the essential elements that help create and sustain the unique character of the Y.  We rely heavily on contributions to keep our programs affordable for all who may not be able to pay for these services.  In order to continue our success and sustain our scholarship and community outreach program, we must fundraise almost $700,000, or 20% of our total annual operational costs.   Through our scholarships and programs, the YMCA can serve deserving children and families who may not be able to pay for essential Y services.  Children learn to swim, attend after-school or childcare programs, go to summer camp, make friends and memories under the supervision and mentoring of professional staff.   The campaign is about making new connections, friends and raising funds.  It serves as an outreach program to increase understanding and acceptance of the Y’s mission, goals and objectives.  Island Impact is a testament to the Y’s commitment to respond to human and social needs through valid, positive programs that merit community support.   Please read our member Impact Stories to learn more about how the Y is impacting our island community and how your donation can make a difference and change lives. You can help make an Island Impact by donating on-line to the campaign now.

The TFFI challenged the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard with a very generous gift and matching incentive.  When we raise an additional $3 million for our Endowment Fund, TFFI will forgive the $1.5 million capital loan they have made to the Y in order to complete construction. We would like to raise the $3 million by the end of 2013 in order to save the additional interest expense and to build sustainability for the future.  You helped build our building, now you can help build our financial sustainability by donating on-line to the campaign now.
