Summer Session: June 25 to August 18 

Registration Opens:  June 4 for members and general public 

 

During the summer we offer open, ongoing enrollment for group lessons on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You can register for as many days and/or weeks as you prefer. Prices listed below are priced per lesson (1 lesson per week). Space is limited. Please register at least 24 hours in advance. 

                                 

 

 

SWIM STARTERS LESSONS

(parent/child lessons, ratio 1:10)

For children ages 6 months—3 years

Fee: Member $11; Public $16

 

WATER DISCOVERY Introduces infants & toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration & encourages them to enjoy themselves whole learning about the water.

Saturday 9:00-9:30am

 

WATER EXPLORATION Parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, & fundamental safety & aquatic skills.

Saturday 9:00-9:30am

 

PRESCHOOL/PRE-K LEVEL LESSONS

30 minute class; ages 3-5
Fee: Member $11; Public $16

 

WATER ACCLIMATION Students develop comfort with underwater exploration.  Lays the foundation that allows for student’s future progress.

Thurs 4:00-4:30pm   Sat 9:30-10:00am

 

 WATER MOVEMENT Focus on body position & control, directional change, & forward movement while also continuing water safety education.

WATER STAMINA Learn how to swim safely for a long distance.  Introduces rhythmic breathing & integrated arm and leg action.

Tues 5:00-5:30pm

 

STROKE INTRODUCTION Develop stroke technique in front & back crawl & learn breaststroke & butterfly kick.  Water safety is reinforced through treading water & elementary backstroke.

Thurs 5:00-5:30pm 

 

 

 

 

SCHOOL AGE LEVEL LESSONS

45 minute class; ages 5-12
Fee: Member $13; Public $18

STROKE DEVELOPMENT work on stroke technique & learn all major competitive strokes.  The emphasis on water safety continues through treading water & sidestroke.

STROKE MECHANICS Refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, & discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.

Inclement Weather Policy: If the YMCA is closed due to weather-related issues, Swimming Lessons will be canceled.  Please call or check our website for updates. If schools are dismissed early or are closed Swimming Lessons may also be canceled.  In the case of cancellations due to weather (winter or thunder/lightening) a make-up class or refund will not be scheduled.
