Founders Campaign

The Founders Campaign was launched May 1, 2004, hoping to raise $500,000 in operating funds.

The campaign met and bested its goal in only three months, a full month short of the effort's deadline. All the money will be used to fund "Y Without Walls" programs, begin the building design, maintain administrative and program staff.

The campaign was strictly grassroots. The campaigners were Island business people, community leaders and philanthropists who saw the merit in providing a year-round community and recreational center for the Island. Campaigners raised more than 95 percent of the money from year-round, Island residents - a strategic decision designed to demonstrate board community support for the Y. One life-long Island resident said it was the most successful short term fundraising campaign he had ever witnessed.

Although the Y has closed the Founder's Campaign, the Y is still raising operating and program money. Use the DONATE NOW button on this site, or complete the donor form below, and mail it with your pledge to the Y office.
