About Us
The board of the Y of Martha's Vineyard is a collection of year round and summer residents who have committed time, energy and money to building both programs and a facility to serve the people on the island. The board's meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at the Teen Center, the Cottager's Corner building in Oak Bluffs. The meetings are held from 12:00 to 2:00 and are open to the public.
Representatives of the board include shop keepers, landscapers, doctors, contractors, community and educational leaders, lawyers and retirees. In addition, we maintain a data base with more than one hundres names of volunteers who help us coordinate year-round activities.
A separate, non-voting advisory board provides a broader range of community support and direction, adding to the strong grassroots element of the Y's leadership.
The three arms of Y participation - board, advisory capacity and volunteerism - have membership from all six towns on the island. The Y believes this is essential to further the mission to serve all of Martha's Vineyard.
